Through Dr. Amira Shaheen, and Dr. Abdul-Salam Al-Khayyat,An-Najah University will be part ofthe Healthcare Responding to Violence and Abuse Joint Research Programme in cooperation with international universities.
The programmeis a collaborative programme implemented by An-Najah NationalUniversity,Juzoor for Health and Social Development represented by Ms Rehab Sandouka; the University of Bristol and the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine in the U.K; the World Health Organization in Genève and the University of São Paulo in Brazil.This programme is supervised by Professor Jane Vedder and Dr. Shaheen.
Through this project, a systematic review will explore barriers and facilitators to a primary health care response to intimate partner violence and family violence. In addition,the views of primary health care professionals, violence against women service providers, Ministry of Health officials and women survivors regarding the role of primary health care providers in addressing violence against women will be elicited.
