An-Najah National University (ANNU) recognizes the critical role of interdisciplinary research (IDR) in advancing knowledge and addressing global challenges. To support and encourage faculty engagement in IDR, the university has implemented a range of financial and academic incentives:

Financial and Academic Incentives:

  • Faculty members are recognized and rewarded for high-quality interdisciplinary research, including publications in top-tier journals, patents, and impactful projects.

  •  An annual symbolic financial award of $500 is allocated for the Best Interdisciplinary Research.

  •  Other annual awards offered by the Deanship of Scientific Research include:

    •  Research Productivity Award

    •  Applied Research Award in Innovation and Industry

    •  Cited Research Award at An-Najah National University

    •  Publication Citation Reward o International Research Award

    •  Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Research Award

Enhanced Tenure and Promotion Policies:

• Interdisciplinary research is prioritized within academic promotion policies:

  • Interdisciplinary research publications receive two additional points compared to non-interdisciplinary research.
  • Faculty engaged in interdisciplinary research are granted additional points in tenure evaluations and academic performance reviews.
  • Researchers actively involved in IDR benefit from reduced teaching loads, allowing more time to focus on collaborative research.

 Support for Early-Career Researchers:

• Special initiatives empower young faculty members by providing mentorship, funding opportunities, and research guidance to enhance their engagement in interdisciplinary and high-impact projects.

 Promotion of Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration:

• ANNU fosters an institutional culture that encourages faculty members from diverse disciplines to collaborate on innovative research, addressing complex societal and scientific challenges.
