An-Najah National University (ANNU) recognizes the critical role of interdisciplinary research (IDR) in advancing knowledge and addressing global challenges. To support and encourage faculty engagement in IDR, the university has implemented a range of financial and academic incentives:

  1. Financial & Academic Rewards: Faculty members are recognized and rewarded for high-quality interdisciplinary research, including publications in top-tier journals, patents, and impactful projects. (Awards)

  2. Enhanced Tenure & Promotion Policies: Interdisciplinary research is prioritized within academic promotion policies:

  • Interdisciplinary research publications receive two extra points compared to non-interdisciplinary research.

  • Faculty members engaged in interdisciplinary research are granted additional points in tenure evaluations and academic performance reviews.

  • Researchers actively involved in IDR benefit from reduced teaching loads, allowing them more time to focus on collaborative research.

  • An annual symbolic financial reward ($500) is allocated for the best interdisciplinary research.

  1. Support for Early-Career Researchers: Special initiatives are in place to empower young faculty members, providing them with mentorship, funding opportunities, and research guidance to enhance their engagement in interdisciplinary and high-impact projects.

  2. Promotion of Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: ANNU fosters an institutional culture that encourages faculty members from diverse disciplines to collaborate on innovative research, addressing complex societal and scientific challenges.

Through these initiatives, ANNU ensures that interdisciplinary research is recognized, incentivized, and actively supported, allowing faculty members to drive transformative research and meaningful contributions at both the national and global levels.
